“Halla University, Academia with the World in its Vision”
Mr. Jung In-young, the honorary chairman and the founder, firmly believed that nurturing high-level technical manpower that we need in industrial sites will help increase corporate and national competitiveness. His belief led to the participation of Halla Group subsidiaries including Halla E&C Corp. and Mando, which helped found Halla Institute of Technology in Wonju, Gangwon-do in 1995. The college was later expanded into 4-year program in 1997.
Halla University, which provides education consumer-centered practical programs, was selected by the Ministry of Education and Human Resources for its local colleges and universities NURI Project in 2003. In 2006, the school topped the education and environment area for the 2006 national higher education evaluation performed by JoongAng Ilbo. And on the same survey, Halla University ranked within top ten schools on seven out of nine evaluation indexes.
On the national colleges and universities evaluation given by Korea Foundation for the Promotion of Private School, the University ranked 10th in per capita scholarship, 16th in tuition return rates, and 8th in ratio between the number of students vs. professor, respectively.
As evidenced in the statistics, Halla University’s superior educational environment and practical educational philosophy are raking up a minimum of 80 percent employment rate each year, where the year 2006 scored 82.4 percent in employment, ranking 8th among 206 colleges and universities nation-wide. The University’s mentoring of talented students is a major factor behind its rise in academic status.
With the arrival of the 21st Century, Halla University has established its HUB2020 policy under the new millennium slogan “Halla University, Academia with the World in its Vision.” This is an expression of the University’s determination to make it into the top national colleges and universities within the next 20 years, to materialize “Halla in Universe” and “Universe in Halla.” To ensure flawless implementation of the policy, the school has come up with a total of three stages which includes four areas with three to four plans in each of them, pledging to support with heavy investment and development.
